JUPAS

Everything you need for your JUPAS application to HKMU — requirements, registration, interview, fees and tools.

Non-Chinese-speaking (NCS) applicants*, who have met the specified circumstances as announced by the Education Bureau (EDB), can use the following alternative qualifications to replace HKDSE Chinese Language Level 3 to meet the entrance requirements for Chinese Language.

  • “Attained” or above in HKDSE Category B (Applied Learning Chinese); or
  • Grade E or above in GCE (A-Level / AS-Level / O-Level) Chinese; or
  • Grade E / Grade 3 or above in GCSE / IGCSE Chinese

*Further information on eligibility and procedures in relation to ACL, please refer to the JUPAS Office website.

However, the following undergraduate programmes require a higher level of Chinese Language proficiency. Please find the specific entrance requirements on ACL in table below.

Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing (NMTSS) programmes:
JS9011 Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Chinese Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
JS9013 Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Language Studies and Translation HKDSE Applied Learning Chinese: Attained with Distinction; or
GCE (A-Level / AS-Level / O-Level) Chinese: Grade A or above; or
GCSE / IGCSE Chinese: Grade A or above / Grade 7 or above
JS9520 Bachelor of Education with Honours (Putonghua and Chinese Language Education) and Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Chinese Linguistics Studies) Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
JS9550 Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Applied Chinese Language Studies) Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
JS9560 Bachelor of Education with Honours (Chinese Language Teaching) and Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours (Applied Chinese Language Studies) Waiver of the HKDSE Chinese Language requirement will NOT be granted.
