Welcome to Hong Kong Metropolitan University!

All new students who have accepted our offer of admission via JUPAS and paid the acceptance fee of HK$5,000 to JUPAS Office this year should have received an email from HKMU on 11 August 2025 (Monday) regarding the registration procedures for full-time Undergraduate Programmes (2025/26).

You should complete the registration procedures by the stipulated deadline. Otherwise, you will be deemed to have declined your offer of admission at HKMU.

Please start by completing the registration procedures as detailed below, and learn more about our Welcome Day for JUPAS Freshmen. After successfully completing the registration procedures, please also visit our Orientation website to obtain further information to start your journey at HKMU.

(With the HKSAR Legislative Council’s approval, The Open University of Hong Kong was renamed as Hong Kong Metropolitan University effective from 1 September 2021.)

Registration Procedures

Registration Period: 11 – 16 August 2025

    • Input “Email Address” and “Password” to log in the system.
    • Email Address = your email address registered at JUPAS.
    • Password = Jp + the first 4 digits of your HKID card + your birth month in 2-digit format (e.g. HKID No. A123456(7), birth month Feb → password Jp123402).

    Tip: open the online registration system in a new browser window so you can follow these steps side by side.

    Verify your personal information

    • Click “My Application” to check if your personal information is correct.
    • Follow the instructions (i.e. email us / log in MyHKMU) if any update of personal information is required.

    Upload your identity document

    • Click “Supporting Document” to upload your HKID card (plus valid entry permit and landing slip(s) if you do not hold a HK permanent ID card).

    Download and read the offer letter and enclosures carefully

    • Click “Application Status”, then click “View Offer Package” to download the offer letter and enclosures.
    • Read them carefully.

    Confirm your acceptance of the offer

    Settle the remaining balance of tuition fees for the 2025 Autumn Term

    • Read the “Important Notes on Payment of Tuition Fees for Applicants” in the letter enclosure.
    • The acceptance fee of HK$5,000 you paid through JUPAS Office:
      • Forms part of your first tuition fee instalment for the 2025/26 academic year (i.e. 2025 Autumn Term).
      • If the tuition fees of the 2025 Autumn Term are lower than the fees paid, you will not need to settle any balance. The University will refund the fee difference (if applicable) after the add/drop period.
      • Make sure you have confirmed your acceptance of the offer in Step 5.
    • Click “Pay Here” to settle the balance payment.
    Payment deadline: 16 August 2025 (Saturday)

Important Note

Students who fail to settle the balance of tuition fees by the stipulated deadline shall be deemed to have declined their JUPAS offers. Please note that whether you register at HKMU or not, you will not be considered for admission to any other JUPAS programmes in the same academic year.

Remarks

NMTSS programmes

  • If you are admitted to a NMTSS programme, you are invited to apply for the NMTSS, which covers all HKMU self-financing programmes.
  • The NMTSS subsidy amount has been provisionally deducted from your first tuition fee instalment for the 2025 Autumn Term, on the assumption that you will apply for NMTSS and that your application will be approved.
  • Read carefully the “Important notes on application for NMTSS” in the letter enclosure and submit an application via “Apply NMTSS” in the “Application Status” page by 22 August 2025.
  • Refer to the Instruction Kit for more details regarding the NMTSS application.
  • Only local students are eligible for subsidy under NMTSS.

Remarks

SSSDP programmes

  • If you are admitted to a SSSDP programme, the subsidy amount has already been deducted from your first tuition fee instalment for the 2025 Autumn Term.
  • You are required to submit a Declaration Form to acknowledge your receipt of the SSSDP subsidy by 22 August 2025.
  • Click the “Submit” button under the “SSSDP Declaration Form” column to submit your SSSDP Declaration Form.
  • Refer to the Instruction Kit for more details regarding the SSSDP Declaration Form.
  • Only local students are eligible for subsidy under SSSDP.

The Orientation website contains all necessary information and relevant schedules (if applicable) to prepare new students for their u-life at HKMU, including but not limited to:

  • Activating HKMU student account (i.e. MyHKMU)
  • Getting access to MyHKMU

  • Submitting your photo for student ID card
  • Providing your emergency contact information
  • Enrolling courses via MyHKMU
